THE MANDARIN ORIENTAL, HONG KONG
This 5 star, legendary hotel in Hong Kong was the very first ‘flagship’ hotel for the Mandarin Oriental group and has been here for more than 50 years.
I normally prefer to stay in smaller, boutique hotels (there are 501 rooms and suites here!), however in a large, vibrant city such as Hong Kong, this was a fantastic choice.
Three things that really stood out for me with this hotel was the excellent service (nothing was too much trouble for the staff), the brilliant location (walking distance to great shopping, restaurants and nightlife), and the excellent facilities - a well equipped gym, lap pool, beautiful spa and great in-house restaurants and bars.
I also loved the comfy, king-size bed in our room, the immaculate cleanliness in the hotel and appreciated the small touches such as an in-room steamer for freshening up your clothes.
Make sure you book in advance to enjoy dining in one of their three Michelin starred restaurants, and make sure you definitely enjoy a drink or two at ‘M Bar’ on the 25th floor - the views over the harbour and city are incredible!
